Pinecrest Gardens Trail Signs:
This series of 5 illustrations was started in November of 2025 and will be completed in June 2026! I've really enjoyed making this, and I can't wait to see the signs displayed!! I love trail signs and the way they bring art into the real world. They help people to connect with nature. I can't think of a more fulfilling use of art!!
Pinecrest Gardens is a beautiful park located in Miami. It used to be the Parrot Jungle! The illustrations each depict a different part of the park and mostly native habitats each represents. The illustrations include: Hardwook Hammock, Cypress Slough, Everglades, Pine Rocklands, and Banyan tree and Dry Garden.
The pictures below show just the illustrations without any of the trail sign words added. I will be adding images of the finished trail signs themselves soon! (click to enlarge each image)
These are the initial sketches and concepts!:

Cigar Orchid
Watercolor, 13x15"
This is an illustration commissioned by Flamingo Magazine for their April edition!! Cigar Orchids are an endangered Everglades species that is pollinated by the oil collecting bee, Centris errans. I happened to already have illustrations of from my Locust Berry painting, so those were used in the article as well.
Bellow are some concept sketches and photos of the article in the magazine.
