Self Portrait 1.jpg

I’m a watercolor artist living and working in South Florida, making artwork about native plants and animals and hoping ultimately to draw attention to endangered species and the conservation of their habitats. Seeing the loss of wild areas I grew up with and around is very alarming to me. My goal is both to help make visible these habitats and their struggles against extinction, and to inspire others to think of Florida as a beautiful and biologically special place. My inspirations are the work of John Audubon who inadvertently influenced the first conservation efforts of the US.

My work can be followed on Instagram @KimHeiseArt or by subscribing to my mailing list where I send out monthly updates on new work and events.

I’m happy to work on commissions or special projects, especially those related to Florida native plants and animals! Please contact me for any info you might want to know about my work.
